In another of Atkins Diet Misconception series, I deal with the question of kidney stones or “does the Atkins Diet impair kidney function?” First, if you have damaged kidney function already due t…

I suffered 6-7 excruiciating kidney stones within a few years in my twenties.I’m 99% sure that it was because if I got drunk and ate a big curry then woke up dehydrated in the early hours, I’d guzzle milk. As soon as I cut out the milk when I was dehydrated, I haven’t had one for nearly 10 years.

Again you ask me to believe the same thing. You point to a study of meat eaters that had 7 different variables that Dr. Robertson, but he believed animal protein was the significant point of study. That seems to be a theory in action, and it again has nothing to do with a ketogenic diet as I am sure my diet differs as much from the 1950s,60s,70s UK diet as it does from the vegetarian diet.

No offense dude, but you are only 37. Most victims of excess animal protein intake don’t feel the adverse effects until after 50. I am happy for your success, and want you to do what you think your body wants, but even if you do live a long healthy life on Atkins, which I hope you do, you are one in a million who could pull this off, and should realize that the average human should be limiting their animal protein intake.

“Victims of excess animal intake” – now that is funny!Oh really, that is convenient. You point an age, and then say well you don’t really know until you hit that age. I will make sure I start warning all my 50+ year old healthy Atkins followers that they should be seeing the problems shortly. (sarcasm off)As for the one in the million comment, I am sure my wife would agree with you, but based upon my interactions, there are certainly a lot more success stories than you allude.

Read any LC forums, look at the comments in my video, watch other LC success stories here on Youtube — you must be leading a sheltered if you think I am that unique. Perhaps the only unique thing about me is that it took me gaining over 200 pounds before I realized the truth of excess carbohydrate intake. Most people realize the truth much sooner in life and realize the lie they have been fed about low fat before they have to lose that much weight.

It is fairly predictable that you would use ad hominems against PCRM. But the truth is, unlike the National Dairy Council, PCRM has actual studies and research done to prove their cause. They take it too far when they say that everyone should be vegans/vegetarians for optimal health, as this is not necessary. You can eat a small amount of animal protein and still be healthy.

It is hardly ad hominem pointing out that PCRM has been supported and funded by PETA and has been biased in their past statements. They have routinely attacked Dr. Atkins personally and released false medical information. I would say they should stand by their actions, and if they are embarrassed by those actions perhaps that is a greater condemnation than I can ever give.
